Russian Athletics has taken heat for their doping policy – however, they are not the only country or sport with a problem.

After the recent announcement that Russian Athletics has been banned from competing at the 2016 Olympics due to accusations of state sponsored doping there has been much debate online about how prevalent the practice is in various sports. The main topic of conversation seems to be whether Russia are in-fact the only nation to have a state sponsored doping regime, with many arguing that Russia have been singled out for political reasons. Obviously, I am not involved in professional sport, nor am I part of any anti-doping agency. I am, however, pretty in-tune with sports news and media – so here’s my ignorant opinion on how prevalent doping and performance enhancing drugs (PEDs) are in different sports. Can an NFL Franchise Work in the UK?

A team in the NFL only plays 8 home games a year, so London is over halfway to that target. So that begs the question, will an NFL franchise happen and work in the UK?

Since 2007 American Football has been played in the home of English Football, Wembley Stadium. The 90,000 capacity stadium regularly sells out whenever games are played. Now, it’s been announced that the NFL are going to expand their UK venture by at least three games at Twickenham Stadium, the home of England Rugby, between 2016 and 2018. To add to this, from 2018 until at least 2027 at least 2 games per year will also take place at Tottenham’s new stadium. This means by 2018 5 NFL games a year will be played in London. All children should learn a sport from an early age. It can have a massive effect on their development as a person – all children should learn a martial art.

All children should learn a sport from an early age. It can have a massive effect on their development as a person. But which sport should they pick? I propose to you, that all children should learn a martial art.

Of course I am biased as an instructor, however being an instructor has allowed me to see all of the positive effects of martial arts on children from all walks of life. I began by joining kickboxing in at university at the age of 19, however have since expanded my knowledge by trying other martial arts such as taekwondo, jiu jitsu and kung fu.
