Vegas sees green white and orange as McGregor becomes UFC featherweight champion

The long anticipated UFC featherweight title fight between Conor McGregor and Jose Aldo made history tonight.

Conor McGregor has made UFC history tonight, defeating Jose Aldo Jr. by KO in just 13 seconds. After months of build up, smack talk and insults, the most talked about UFC match-up ever finally happened! But for all of the build up it was McGregor’s second punch which ended the fight and saw him crowned UFC featherweight champion of the world. The shocking result came as Aldo charged forward throwing a wide hook, McGregor countered with a strong cross followed by a hammer fist to the grounded former champion to end the match.

If you blinked, here’s‘s the knockout!

It seemed from the off that McGregor had gotten into Jose Aldo’s head, crippling his mentality and causing him to come out aggressively, leading to his demise. Aldo did not look like a champion (with 7 title defences) walking in. His head was down, staring at the floor he didn’t move, he looked tense. McGregor on the other hand looked loose and relaxed, stepping into the octagon exuding confidence and energy. In my opinion, it this relaxed attitude which gave McGregor the edge over a tense Jose Aldo.

So what’s next for the self proclaimed “king of Dublin” after beating both the number one contender (Chad Mendez) and the (now former) UFC world champion (Jose Aldo jr.) by KO? Frankie Edgar knocked Chad Mendez unconscious only the night before. Surely this secures him the next shot at the featherweight title? After the performances of the weekend, that’s a fight I would like to watch. But that’s just my ignorant opinion!
