Rafael Dos Anjos has pulled out of the UFC 196 super-fight against Conor McGregor with a broken foot leaving fans disappointed. Although unavoidable given the circumstances, I have no doubt that McGregor will jump at the chance to use this against Dos Anjos in the build up for the inevitable future re-match up.

Conor McGregor has made UFC history tonight, defeating Jose Aldo Jr. by KO in just 13 seconds. After months of build up, smack talk and insults, the most talked about UFC match-up ever finally happened! But for all of the build up it was McGregor’s second punch which ended the fight and saw him crowned UFC featherweight champion of the world. The shocking result came as Aldo charged forward throwing a wide hook, McGregor countered with a strong cross followed by a hammer fist to the grounded former champion to end the match. With the popularity of the sport fuelled by personalities such as Ronda Rousey and Conor McGregor who have embraced their new found celebrity, the UFC is one of the fastest growing sports franchises. 490 000 viewers tuned in to watch Rousey vs Holm (UFC 194), arguably one of the biggest upsets in the history of any combat sport. After the defeat of Ronda Rousey, one of the most prolific fighters in her category in the UFC, it is clear that in MMA, anything can happen making the sport all the more engaging to the viewer. All children should learn a sport from an early age. It can have a massive effect on their development as a person. But which sport should they pick? I propose to you, that all children should learn a martial art.
Of course I am biased as an instructor, however being an instructor has allowed me to see all of the positive effects of martial arts on children from all walks of life. I began by joining kickboxing in at university at the age of 19, however have since expanded my knowledge by trying other martial arts such as taekwondo, jiu jitsu and kung fu.
